Thumbs down !@#$%&^* scratches on my hood

On passenger side high up near where the roof pillar comes down, and they go sort of towards the mirror. Discovered them this evening while bucket washing to remove the winter road salt and filth. I'm fecking p!ssed! Looks like g-dd-mn cat claw scratches. Fairly deep, no way they'll buff out, they're there to stay.

Got nothing against critters but if they want to live they better stay the feck off my HHR. I will seriously damage the first critter I catch on my HHR. Even if its our (her) cat.

I do not abide claw marks on my HHR.

Ruined my whole fecking night.

I understand your frustration. I do not think these are very good paint jobs. I am always finding new scratches. I would be very careful with microfiber towels.

Good Luck

I rinsed the crud off mine last week and seen a nice 2" scratch on the hood. This paint must be the thinnest ever used on cars.
As for the cat skiing--solution is use that cat as a traction Matt.

I can empathise with you. I bought my 06 2LT used from a dealer.
I had it for two weeks, and it was flawless...I kept saying that....a few small indentations on the roof which were hardly noticeable...

but during my first "getting aquainted" detail job, I noticed a small patch on the passenger side of the hood just above the downslope...looked like someone had a sticker on it, and it left a scar....

it is IN the paint...a repair of some kind....and the paint "reacted".

there is 100% nothing I can do about it...at all. Unless I re-paint the hood.

and folks...car covers dont keep cats away...they invite them. The material for some reason makes cats want to spring their claws, and practive playing piano...

it is sad...but part of owning a car that lives outside.

I swear out of all the cars I've ever owned the HHR has the worst paint. But since Black Knight is a warrior I look at them as battle scars now

I have 2 indoor cats and feed 4 strays outside. They show their "love" by skiing down down Blackie's windshield and grill. Even if I don't see prints, I'll usually get a surprise when I look up and there are prints on the sunroof glass!

Sure I don't like it, but whatever. I LOVE my car yes, but I don't have a covered garage and will never turn away a hungry animal...

Well, had Cobbs out in the sunshine today (Yay!... we haven't seen the sun out around here in weeks...) and in the daylight you don't really notice the scratches. Well I do since once I know of a flaw my eye always notices it from then on, but I guess they could be worse.

When I had my '95 Vette convertible it was a constant battle keeping her two cats off the convertible top when the car was in the garage, it was like it was their personal hammock. And the last thing you want to do is startle a cat when its on the car-- claws come out instinctively if you surprise them. Her cats were declawed in the front but they still had the rear claws. Instead of four claw drive they were just two-claw posi-trac, lol.
