06 to 07 Body Swap?

Hello, I have a 2006 HHR 2.2l Manual trans that is starting to get rusty and clattery. I bought an 07 automatic with a possibly blown motor for parts a while back. As it turns out, the parts car is less rusty than my 06. I know there are engine differences and harness differences between the 06 and 07 cars, but I am wondering, if I have a complete donor vehicle, how much headache would it be to swap my manual 06 engine into the auto 07? does anyone know if the wiring is all the same inside the car? would I be able to just swap harnesses under the hood and computers? or is it a complete harness swap inside the car and everything. I have done plenty of engine swaps before, including putting a 7.3l into a 6.0l truck which entailed swapping the entire wiring from one truck to the next. so, I can do the work, but It was definitely a tedious process. Optimally, I am hoping to be able to swap motors and under hood harnesses, but If anyone has any insight, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

What engine is in the 2007? The ‘06 was a one year 2.2 doesn’t work with other years. The clutch pedal from the ‘06 would have to be swapped over, it’s doable, there’s nothing you can do that can’t be done!

the 07 is also a 2.2l. yes, besides the obvious manual swap parts, I want to know how different the body harnesses are inside the vehicle. swapping engine bay harnesses is not too terribly hard.

You will need to swap BCM, the harness shouldn’t be to much different.

Should not be any differences in interior wires.

I can’t think of any, you would need to swap the instrument cluster

Pretty sure you'll have to swap all the control modules (BCM, ECM, TCM) as a unit since they are VIN coded.

The main difference between 2006 and 2007 is the way headlights are wired and the ignition system.
I think the transmissions are interchangeable.
The engines are both L61 so I'm thinking you could just swap the coil packs.

Upon further research, the 2006 engine does not have the required cam position sensor for the ignition of 2007

The 2006 2.2 is the least desirable motor in the the HHR line, but people need them. You might be better off parting out the 2006 and use the money for what you need for the 2007.
