Transmission swap

Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2007 HHR with a blown engine and want to convert it to automatic while the engine is out.

Is this possible? "Easy"? What parts other than the transmission and ecu would I need? Any tutorials online for either manual to automatic or the other way around?

Thanks!
Mike

Welcome to the site

I would think you would need lots of parts.
Shifter and cable
Motor mounts
Wiring harness
Axle shafts
Flywheel
Radiator and cooler lines
I'm sure I'm missing some.

You would be better off finding a finding a parts car to do the swap.

So it's not a part-for-part swap.... Oh well, I guess the manual transmission isn't too bad for what I need to do.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll focus on the interior.

You got that right, Lucky... it may be easier to make a stick from an automatic, but I'm sure Mike will have lots of fun with a 4 speed HHR.
There's so many electronics to change to satisfy the EPA... it may not be worth it.
