Infamous? I can't recall anyone ever having that issue. And there are no search results. Are you saying the backlighting pulsates?

I've heard of bouncing needles, maybe that's what you mean?

If the power steering comes and goes WHILE DRIVING It has to do with either the fuse box is loose or the battery connection is loose. If the power steering goes out and doesn't come back until it cools down it could be the motor is bad.
OR, the ignition switch recall has not been done. See the link in my sig.

The electrical system is not like the system on a 87 Ford. It is mostly digital.

Speaking of the ignition recall, Can I still get that done on my '06? The key can currently be turned all the way off and pulled out while the car is moving/in gear. Kinda freaky and if I don't have to pay to get it replaced that'd be amazing.

If it hasn't already been done, then yes. There is a link in my signature to check your recall status by your VIN.

Donbrew, I've never seen that page that your link directs to. Seems to be here on site, but I can't find how to get there any other way except your link.

I think it was hidden when an update happened. There is a sticky in the recall forum for the other ones.

To find all the TSB’s go the the recall site, skip the VIN and go to the “VEHICLE” drop-down, and enter “CHEVROLET HHR” and ignore the year request.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

But if you go there you’ll see they're making it difficult.

Car Complaints used to list all the TSB’s but now even though they say there are like 1256, a search yields nada so idk what’s going on except someone’s trying to hide them.

Example:

https://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/HHR/2011/

Couldn’t pull up any actually TSB’s using you link, just description. Also, it’s a link internal to these forums. IDK where that info is at GM.

Did find a site new to me. Example:

https://www.tsbsearch.com/Saturn/14115B

Having the document number and an internet search engine will get you the document. Most TSBs are listed in the TSB thread, though hard to search.
When doing a document search you should try several adding successive a,b,c,d to the end of the number to make sure you get all updated TSBs. The one in your post has an E, for the 5th version.

A GoOgle search of "GM TSB lookup by VIN" returns lots of sources, I guess other search engines will do similar results.

Try a "Bing" search, most thorough search engine I have ever found.. Works for me anyhow..
