06 2.4 HHR runs warm but only on highway
Great News! I have burped the coolant system twice more and took it for a long drive this weekend with the total trip being around 280 miles. Most of this was spent at 85+ mph and I must be the luckiest SOB because I think the burping did it. I didn't get above 220 at ALL during the trip. Hottest it got was 218 but that was only for a short while the average freeway temp was 210 and avg temp below 60mph was 195-200. At least for now it seems like the cooling problem is fixed. I did a 0-Limiter test and recorded it, I uploaded it
I've watched a bunch of other HHR 0-60 videos, and I think I'm just being a complainer about it's performance. I frequently also drive my Trailblazer which has a lot more go than the HHR does so I think I'm just creating a problem out of nothing and just not understanding that an economy 4 banger is going to be a bit slower than a torquey truck engine. Take a look at the video and let me know what you think.
The transmission fluid was changed about a month ago, Getting to that fill plug was awful since I have big hands, and whoever came up with the bolt instead of just using a dipstick like everyone else needs a swift kick in the jewels. Fluid that was drained out was probably original, very black but no metal shavings just normal wear and tear it seems.

Better, but still... 210 average on the freeway is still hotter than it should be, even in Phoenix. Did you use your infrared temperature gun on the radiator yet?
What was that knocking near the end of your video?

Why would you need a dipstick? Don't you ever look where the car was parked? The ATF has nowhere to go but the ground.
