08 2.4 hhr will not start, engine light is on. Im not getting a spark. Ive replaced the ecu befor i got a code reader. The reader gave a p0315 crankshaft postion systme variation not learned. I replaced the cp sensor. Still wont start. It the only code since the ecu is new. What should be my next step?

to the forums!!

Maybe some history of the car. Has it ever started for you? How long have you had it? Did anything happen just before the no start? Does it crank? Why did you replace the ECM? Did you perform a key relearn after the new ECM?

You need to have the sensor learned. Why change the sensor? It can't learn itself.

No , the car has not started for me, it was setting for about 3 year before i got it, 93000 miles. i replaced the battery and starter first, it still would not start, replaced fuel pump and new gas, i tested it for spark, spark from any coil. my reseach pointed to ecm. i bought new ecm programmed by vin # and relearned the key. i the got code reader giving me p0315. I replaced the cps .starter will crank put car will not start. i have fuel pressure at manifold. Is learning the position variation something i can do?

When you got the ECM programmed they erased the data field for the Crank sensor, so you get the code for it missing. It is not the cause of a no start.
All internet research will lead to some mention of a bad computer, but the truth is they very rarely fail. GM shops will almost always blame that first and bill you for it.

Have you looked at the timing chain? Is it broken or loose. Any slack is bad.
