Well, it seems we have enough interest to go ahead with the project...IF I can find one of the small Road Rippers to use as the basis for the master. I've placed a "want it now" ad on Ebay for one (thanks for the pic, Sindy! ). I'll also hit flea markets & garage sales as I get time...maybe some of you here frequent these & could look also, please . Depending on the body of this toy, it may work best to fill in the windows & sunroof, leaving it up to the builder to cut them free from the inside if your full size HHR has windows or is a panel. Also be best to do the bumpers separate so it can be built as a "regular" HHR or an SS. I'll know more once I get my hands on a Road Ripper.

I think I found a suitable chassis for the project...same basic layout as an HHR, a few mods will be needed before casting in resin. Really need the little Road Ripper body to confirm scale & fit test parts. Ready to build masters of the different wheels available...just need the body

Well, I've got a little road ripper on the way...thanks Craig(aven11)! Once I take it apart & get some measurements, we'll see how close the scale is to 1/25, then get busy building the master!

Is that the Revell PT Cruiser chassis? If it is,it's wheelbase and overall length is too short.

While at the Daytona Turkey Run car show today I talked with a diecast dealer and was advised that a 1:24th scale HHR is about to be released. I will post more info when I get it.

Thumbs up

That sounds great I would like to have one even though I will have to do extra work to make it a panel.

It is in fact...but the wheelbase of the PT chassis is within .015" of accurate for the actual HHR numbers (103.5", or 4.14" scale). Once I get the Road Ripper (tomorrow!) I'll see how the manufacturer did as far as scale accuracy.

Wow, that's good news! I searched around on diecast forums last nite looking for any new releases, didn't find anything on the HHR...but since your guy is an insider, he probably knows before it hits the net!
