I broke 20K miles and it's a love hate reltionship. I think I would kill myself before I kept it for 100K miles though I don't think the wiring harness issues that can't be fixed would kill it long before then.

I'm holding out for a Volt inspite of my horrid experiences with this POS. 1 year is all I need.

It is fun to drive though......and hauls a ton of STUFF in the back......when it works right.

(oddly, the reviews from 2000 painted a poor picture of this vehicle also). At that time, I wasn't into the internet, so I trusted my own instincts rather than what I read. Don't worry so much. Even though I had plenty of issues with both my 06 and a few with my 08, none of them stranded me anywhere. I would take my HHR on a long trip in a heartbeat. From what I see, there aren't all that many posts for people needing new motors, trans, or having problems that stranded them.

Yeah... I just took mine from Michigan to Florida and back (about 2,200 miles round trip) and it purred like a kitten. Well, the motor doesn't really purr with the little 4 banger...but you get the idea. One rattle was the only thing, which it's at the dealer now for them to fix it. Other than that it was perfect! Ran fine, hauled A LOT, and was very comfortable!

A couple weeks ago I took my overloaded '06 with 103,00 + miles from Michigan to Phoenix in a little over 32 hours covering 2,200 miles averaging just under 28 MPG.

It's has 106,400 on it now and the first of next week I'll head home 800 pounds lighter so the MPG should be better.

Wouldn't hesitate to head to Alaska after that with this great little truck.

We have a 2006 with 97,000 miles and it has been awesome. I gave that one to our son and bought a 2010! Like you, the 2006 had rotor warping and other minor issues but so far...we are very happy.

My 06 had 16k on it when I got it and at 41k when I traded for my 08 SS had no problems other than the brake vibration. Other than that it was awesome. My SS knock on wood, is starting out the same way. I love my HHR's

My 2007 HHR with the 2.4L motor has 108,000 now and it just keeps going up. Works great so far, no problems. I'm very happy with it.

I was coralatingthe rotor problem to also having worn front bearings, other posts have pointed to this as you may not hear the bearings going bad but acts like warped rotors, my right front is loud and getting a slight pedal pluse. I can report when I get them changed....
