Bonneville is Sept 16th.
Bonneville is Sept 16th. That is when the salt is dry and in good shape. It is like a 5 day event and if you meet all of the safety requirements for the speeds you run you can make as many passes as time allows. When you are ready to make a run and have passed tech you get in line and wait your turn.
You do have to pass tech though.
I think the factory 2.2 HHR tires are rated at about 110 MPH so I do not think they would let you run over that speed with stock tires. You are probably required to wear a helmet and fire jacket. There may be other requirements that would prevent you from making a pass such as 4 way seat belts, roll bar / roll cage, remote battery dissconnect, HANS device, all glass removed and replaced with lexan or any other number of rules.
I really do not know what all is required as far as safety equipment but from my experience drag racing you should find out exactly what the rules are and make sure you can meet them before you travel across the country. At the minimum I think you would probably have to have fire jacket, helmet and correct speed rated tires.
There may be many other rules that would make it so you could not run. Make sure you know what they are.

firesuit
i don't think you need a firesuit or any harness. they run bikes there. a friend of mine took his bike there , and i have seen them run bikes on tv , no firesuit , or harness. i could be wrong , but it would be silly for them to require things in a car that is not required on a bike. even though i haven't had my 2.4 auto over 105 , i would like to have fixed so that it doesn't shut off. oh , they do have some requirements, it would be great if someone new exactly what.
Drag racing requires
Drag racing requires full motorcycle leathers, helmet and a cut-off switch to shut off motorcycle should rider come off.
I would be very surprised if Bonneville did not have similar requirements. But I have not read the rules for Bonneville.
Almost every year someone dies at Bonneville and they want to do everything they can to eliminate that.

here are the rules for the 130 club.
pretty much the only things we need that are not stock would be the helment, fire extinguisher, and tires.

130 MPH Club Rules
* All drivers must be members of USFRA, possess a current valid state drivers license, and sign a loss damage waiver to participate.
* A maximum of five (5) runs will be allowed per entry fee paid.
* Each driver is a new entry. Each driver change must report to tech inspection separately, obtain a new vehicle number at registration, be a member of the USFRA and pay a separate entry and course prep fee. Driver change and new tech inspection may not occur until previous drivers runs are completed.
* The 130-mph format is specifically designed for currently licensed and insured, street legal cars/motorcycles. Requests for exemption from the Street Legal, Licensed & Insured requirement will require USFRA approval 45 days prior to the event. To gain Membership into the 130-mph club, the vehicle must run the measured mile twice in the same event at a speed no less than 130 mph. The two runs are then averaged. Once a driver & car combination has achieved 130 Club Member status no more runs will be allowed.
* An initial "licensing" pass at no more than 100 mph will be required to calibrate on board speed gauge equipment. i.e.; tachometer, speedometer, etc.
* Maximum speed will be 139.999 mph - any vehicle exceeding 139.999 mph will forefit any of the unused 5 runs will not receive a timing slip.
