to the forum Tourville!

You know, the idea of a diesel HHR has come up lately, once some Diesel Cruze's end up in salvage yards such a conversion may become economically feasible.

Right now I'd hate to see the price of a new engine in the crate from GM.

So I'm a little new to the custom car world and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the idea of the 2.8L TurboDiesil from the Colorado in an hhr for its raw power and torque out put.

Specs page for referenced engine: 2.8L inline4 TurboDiesil

Not sure if it would fit in the HHR's super cramped engine bay, then you have the engineering issues to overcome.

The Colorado's Diesel 2.8 is designed for a longitudinal application vs. the HHR's transverse engine design. Plus adapting it to the 4T-45E transmission would prove a daunting task, and possibly prove impractical due to the torque output of the 2.8 Diesel.

If there ever is an HHR converted to a Diesel powertrain, my odds would still go to a conversion using the Cruze's 2.0 Clean Diesel and 6T-45E transmission.
