2.2L Power Upgrade Year

What year did the 2.2L in the HHRs get the power upgrade (and VVT)?

I looked online and can't seem to find the info. Most websites show the original lower hp and don't mention when the upgrade occurred or what the upgraded hp was.

Thanks
Steve

Wikipedia mentions in the article that in 2009 VVT was added, but the 2.2L engine power output in the chart shows the same 149hp and 152 lb-ft for 2007 through 2011.

I am sure that they upped the hp when VVT was added to the 2.2L.

OK, after some searching using Edmunds Used Car specs, here is the answer:

2008 HHR 2.2L - 149hp@5600 152lb-ft@4200

2009 HHR 2.2L - 155hp@6100 150lb-ft@4800

So the hp peak went up (at a higher rpm), the peak torque went down a little (also at a higher rpm).

This could be due solely to the rpm measured at and not because the VVT engine is more powerful. (I don't know one way or the other) I'm just pointing out manufacturers always play these "numbers games" without showing all the data. Why? It sells cars.

My wife says it feels like my 10 has more power then her 09 when she drives mine. They both are VVT, the 09 is a LS and the 10is an LT and both are 2.2.
