You should re-read mine. 10.5:1 is the norm these days, not unusually high.

I said it was "high" not "unusually high." Anything above 10:1 is cause for concern from the effects of detonation (*Meaning eventual holes in the tops of your pistons.). Why do you think GM bothered to implement EMS if there was no possible knock problem. With today's gas - it's a reality.

This is the second board where I've seen people worried about damage to the motor, it won't happen.

I never stated engine damage was a concern. To the contrary in fact.

The car has at least 2 knock sensors, as soon as it picks up something like detonation it pulls timing to keep from damaging anything.

Exactly what I said in my post.

Run the lower octane stuff, only time you'll really notice and pinging or detonation is if it is really hot outside. If it pings or anything, then step up to the next grade. As far as octane booster goes, it doesn't do anything. It may raise the octane a few tenths but thats it. Dumping 110 octane booster into a tank of 87 may net you 87.5 octane. If you want to run an octane booster go to an art store and buy some toulene.

Exactly what I already said. See, - we're on the same team here.

My only comments directed at you were about the compression ratio and octane booster.

Yeah, I feel like a toad.

You buy premium gas? How do you afford it?
