Hi: According to the owner's manual, it looks like there were 3 different rearview mirror options available:

1. Manual rearview mirror which is what we currently have now in our LT.
2. Automatic dimming with Onstar & Compass.
3. Automatic dimming with Onstar & Compass & temperature display.

Not too concerned with the OnStar system, however wouldn't mind having the auto dimming with compass and temperature display features. Any chance that either of the more advanced featured mirrors can be swapped out with the manual/base mirror as plug and play? No biggie either way, just curious to see if this is possible.

I swapped out the standard mirror for the auto dimming with compass, fairly easy. There are how to’s , search rear view mirror In the search tool

 

OB: Thanks, I always try to search before posting a question, although I didn't see anything on a definitive process. I know you mods/gurus sometimes had links saved for us newbies. I have already found so much with the search function, however didn't see if any wire cutting/splicing was involved in the swap process.
