Your car is an automatic I hope. Don't want to state the obvious, but stick shift cars didn't have remote start.

Yes, all auto HHR's have the remote start option. Now some rental companies did order theirs with that option removed. But you should be able to have it turned on with a techII scanner I would think.

if all HHRs come with the remote start, then how do you activate it if the fobs dont have the starter button?

You will have to get a new fob with the button along with having it actually turned on in the computer. When we added cruise to my mom's Cobalt, once we installed the controls, it was just a matter of finding the "file" in the BCM and change the cruise from "OFF" to "ON". Worked perfectly. I would imagine the remote start is similiar.

i know this was the norm for all US versions of the HHR..but can someone confirm this for Canadian versions too?

re-writing this in the right section now lol...
so i found a thread that said ALL HHR's have remote start..so i held down the info and reset(arrow) button on steering wheel to enter the settings and i dont see anything about remote start..has it been maybe disabled? I bought this used and it was not a rental and its an LS automatic. Can this be re-enabled by the dealership? Or is the statement about ALL HHR's having remote start just in the US and not in Canada or elsewhere?
