2007 Manual Transmission flush

I guess I am new to this. I want to flush out the old transmission fluid on my manual chevy hhr but I dont know how. I have seen on here people talking about using a special machine to flush everything out. I guess my ultimate goal is to just draint he old fluid that is in there and replace it with new fluid. I bought the transmission fluid from chevy but they couldnt tell me how much goes in there. I have a friend who is a mechanic who will be assisting in this procedure. Does anybody know how much fluid goes in after I drain what is in there out? Also, does anybody know what is the equivalent to this transmission fluid they sold to me for $12 a quart. I have the basic chevy hhr, i think its the ls, or whichever was the cheap one :).... Also does anyone know of any secrets or tips for getting the new fluid back in there?

Nice find Officer. I moved that thread to the How To forum and deleted the off topic comments so that the thread is more useful.

I have a decent find now and again. That search feature up top is quite handy. Gotta say, when I use it, 99% of the time I find it, because someone else here has already asked or said something about it. Thanks ChevyMgr.

ChevyMgr,

Where is the "How To" forum located on the site? I looked at forum jump where I thought it may be a drop down, but no. I tried searching for "How To" and that didn't work. Where is it hidden ?! Thanks

How often?

I see HOW one can change the manual transmission fluid. However, when do you NEED to change it?

Not sure what url you use to get to this site, but you might want to try https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/index.php - it lists all the forums in one place. May make it easier for you. :)
