2008 chevrolet hhr panel cross box tool box

I will apologize in advance is this post in inappropriate, but I just spotted this item on ebay.

It's a "2008 chevrolet hhr panel cross box tool box" and I've read posts where some of you that have non-panel rarely use the seats and this might be a good find. My experience is that you don't see these for sale very often.

To find it use the title as your search criteria.

So If I take out my rear seats that tool box will drop right in?

You will need to remove those tiny bins behind your back seat too.

For a step-by step w/pics, here's a Very good thread about 'adding a back seat in a panel'.

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/install-rear-seat-panel-26817/ You just do the oppposite..

And FWIW: The tool bins under the lids are not as deep as one may think... Seems Chevy thought 5" to 6 " deep was enough.. I imagine Chevy didn't want too much weight stowed away..
I am considering modifying my bins to be considerably deeper..

Here's the link to the ebay box: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SS:MOTORS:1123
& You sure don't often see them on eBay, as OP mentioned.

I agree with sleeper, the bins are too shallow to store anything large and you have to line them with a towel or you hear everything rattling around. I took mine out after about three months and replaced with a rear seat and storage compartment.

I do intend to deepen my storage bins. When ? is another story..

Won't be difficult to do.. Once opened I'll know how much deeper, etc..

From what I've seen, I don't think 12" deep (min) is out of the question..

And actually there is a LOT of dead space under them..So actually they could even be bigger than the hatch doors..
Then line them with carpeting, or thick rubber.
