When you’re under there, wear goggles and keep your mouth , closed, no disrespect, just a warning it can get messy!

Google's? Wear a search engine? Or some other part of the company?

An NHTSA investigation into those fuel leaks was opened last July. I haven’t heard of a resolution. At least two of my 4 HHR’s did this. In most cases the problem is limited to the specific area mentioned in other comments, in which case the repair would seem on the surface to be no big deal, but GM should really provide guidance on the best fix. Obviously, simply replacing with factory parts would invite an encore. My guess would be to splice in some stainless and then restore the heat shielding somehow due to the proximity to the exhaust. Seems that there would be dozens of ways to “repair” this that would be as hazardous as the leak, especially with rubber or plastic.

If you’ve had the leak, consider filing a complain. It may help all owners.

This investigation remains open but a new document has been added to the file the indicates someone has made a public info request on it. So maybe something is going on.

This investigation does not (yet) include 2011’s because (apparently) there are no complains (yet) for that year. I’m pretty sure these complaints are the tip of the iceberg, perhaps because the cost to fix is pretty low.

Can this be put in the recalls section? Or can the prior thread on this issue there be reopened so new info can be added?

It would be more productive to file your complaint with the proper government entity. We can't do it for you.

If it becomes a recall we will put something in the recall section. How long is the "bumper to bumper" how long is the rust through?

The last HHR was built in May 2011, over a decade ago, parts fail rust never sleeps, and I really don’t think GM or the parts supplier will now step up and replace parts, or pay for labour to replace parts.
Ive replaced the fuel lines in my 2007 LS and my 2011 2LT. I’m not holding my breath waiting until I get a check from GM.
They didn’t do anything about rusty fuel and brake lines in my 1984 Firebird, my 1988 Oldsmobile Cierra, my 1983 GMC S15, 1988 GMC C1500, I’m sure there are others.
