Bought a negative battery cable and connected one end to alternator bracket and other end to unibody inner fender. A short test drive showed smoother idle and a little quicker and smoother acceleration. Will know more tomorrow when I do my monthly seniors magazine deliveries.

Have a look at the ground wire connections from the stud on the transmission housing just down to the right of the oil filter cap, it goes up to the rad cradle, perhaps rusty or loose.
