Adding Side Airbags

I have a 2008 HHR LS and decided to switch out the gray interior to a black one I found in clean condition at the junkyard. I grabbed the two side curtain airbags plus the wiring from both ends of the plug I don't think mine has those.
Are these plug in and go, will there have to be computer mods, or is this idea a bust. The guy said I can bring them back if it's a fail.

There is a different airbag diagnostic module for HHRs without side curtain airbags vs one with side air bags.

Side air bags also require side impact sensors and the wiring.

The airbag diagnostic module probably has to communicate with the BCM, so it likely needs to have the proper VIN number.

This doesn't even get into the safety (airbag going off at wrong times or during your installation) or legal ramifications.

It definitely isn't plug-and-play.

I have done a lot of modifications on cars, but this is one I wouldn't touch.

Thanks fellas yeah I loaded those right back up in the ride to drop off Fri or Sat morning lol, I thought it was good opportunity instead of letting them go to the crusher, the more I looked at them over in the corner the more I felt compelled to come consult with the pros lol

They don't use explosives anymore. They have not been "deadly" for years; might scare you you to death, but no bloody stumps.
All of the electrical connectors are "fool" proof; in that they have a blade in them so the circuit is completed even when disconnected.
