Adjusting the Armrest

To this point I could never get totally comfortable while driving the HHR. It always seemed like the armrest was to low. Well I looked more into it today and it seems my armrest has a slight slope to it. I guess whoever owned the HHR for a little while before us put a lot of weight down on the armrest while driving. Is it possible to readjust the armrest to bring it back up or will I have to take it to the dealership.

Mine has that slight downward slope from back-to-front on both sides. I think it's normal - though I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I ended up leaning the seatback a litte further back to change armrest angle.

mine is the same as well. If the seat is reclined back it will be level. If the seat is vetical the armrest is slanted downward.

Mine's been sloped forward since day #1. Of course if I keep using it to help lift myself out of the seat, it's gonna have a real slope!

Well atleast the bright side is I know there is nothing wrong with mine. I guess I will just try leaning further back. I guess they made this for all the "gangsta's" that want to drive it...haha

This is probably my biggest gripe with the HHR.

The armrest is too low to be of any use to me, so I keep it in the up position all the time.

If I try to use it, I end up with a sore shoulder.

I'm considering seeing if I can't make some sort of add-on for it that will add an inch and a half of padding to the top of it so that I can actually use it.

John....

I had the same problem and took it to the dealer. They SAID they fixed it....yeah, right. There's probably no "damage" to your armrest. That is one of GM's "infinite wisdom" designs.

This has been discussed before and people will say to just tilt your seat back. But I'm not comfortable driving like a "low rider". For us posture correct people, there is a simple fix that was discussed here. Use your search function for the mechanics of the change, which is very easy.
