Air Bag Changes?

Does anyone know if the airbags were changed or upgraded from 06-11? If so what were the changes and what year?

A little quick research didn't show any changes of part numbers over the years, and all the vendors I looked at say the bags work for '06 to '11. If there were any changes at all, it would most likely have been in the activation module software, but it looks like the bags are usable from one model year to the next.

My collision database seems to show different part numbers for air bags in the 2006 model ONLY, however they all show as being DISCONTINUED - evidently superceded by the bags in the '07 and on models.......

Also, the SS model has its own drivers air bag apparently.

One other note. When you have an air bag deployment, more that just the bags need to be replaced. Here's what's required:

Deployed air bag module(s) Drivers $798 or more; Pasenger $697 or more
Diagnostic unit (SDM) $252,00 or moredepending on options / model
Deployed seat belt pretensioners $117.00 or more each for seat belt unit
Front impact sensor $84.50 or more....
Seat belts in use during collision

And thus we know how a "fender bender" can total a car out in a hurry.
