Air Freshener Dashboard Damage

For those who use air fresheners in their HHRs, be careful with what you use and how you use it. I seen this video on Fox news in regard to Arometrics Air Fresheners (if spilled) melting dashboard plastics.

Nice post

I used to sell those when I worked at Advance Auto Parts. Plastic isnt the only thing it will eat through either. The counters were covered with this rubber-like mat so people could throw greasy parts up there and it would be easy to clean up after. We got one that was damaged during shipping and it was thrown on top of the counter. About a week later, there was a nice little hole through the rubber where the liquid had spilled.

It's not just those. I put one of those gel type in the round canisters under the seat of my truck. You could tell opening the console where it was, it warped the plastic with just fumes.

Dryer sheets all the way now......

I just noticed that after a week of having one of these scented oil air fresheners clipped on my vent that the plastic around that area is damaged. It looks like paint thinner damage. The plastic looks like its actually bubbling. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and revive this thread. I was on the verge of calling up the car detailers that had it last week and blame them, until I found this thread.

Thanks for the warning. I never use those things myself. Just strike a match and roll down a window. :)
