American Classic Whitewalls

I have recently bought American Classic whitewall tires from Coker (https://www.cokertire.com/tires/p215-55r16-american-classic-1-1-2-whitewall-tire.html) for my chrome smoothies for use during summer (the blue coat is for protection during shipping).
They are all season tires (M+S). I would say the volume level is about more or less the same as with my Michelin Alpin winter tires. Grip may be a bit less.

What's astonishing is the amount of wheel balancing weights that had to be used on three of the four tires. I have never seen that many on wheels, at least not on any of mine. I had Michelin Primacy tires (with custom made whitewalls from a German company) before on the same chrome smoothies. They only needed a fraction of these balancing weights.

That is a lot of lead! Nice looking WW’s

I suggest you have your tire shop spin the wheel by itself to see if it’s the rim out of balance, the when remounting the tire turn it 180 degrees on the wheel and rebalancing the wheel and tire.

Looks like the person doing the balancing lacks experience. I have never seen nearly equal amount on opposite sides; grossly out of round.
Looks like pretty poor construction, like retreads. They must glue the tread on after the carcass is made.

I wouldn't want tires that are so poorly made that it requires half a box of wheel weights to balance.

I’m with Don. Those look like poorly constructed tires. The next to last picture, zoom in and it looks like the “cap” on a retread is not secured to the tire carcass.

Take all the weights off and save for shows. If you think the balance disappoints you, wait'll you drive them if you're used to Michelins.

I think those tires are meant to be "show only" not highway tires. The website sort of indicates that in a round-about way.

I agree, those look to be "re-caps".. I don't think they are even legal on the road anymore.

I only go to our local Mom & Pop tire store.. They have the Hunter Road Force Balancer. It prints out a computer readout, & will tell tire man to rotate a tire to such a point for the best optimal balance with the least lead..

Yes, it our go to machine.

I'm surprised the Coker made those tires.. But do know the Corky sold off the biz a few years ago.
