I also looked specifically for a black interior. Most HHRs I found were the light grey or tan and I just like the look of a dark interior. I had a jetta tdi with an all black cloth interior before my HHR and the black leather stays much cleaner. Lint and my wifes hair doesnt stick to it.

I love the ebony interior.

But the SS interior with the grippy cloth is not something you want with a Animal. You will have dog hair stuckto it if you do.

Ebony was also a must when I was shopping for one.
However there is one drawback. In the cargo area, if you scratch the plastic it will be visible as a whiteish line that is more obvious than on the lighter interior colours. One user reported Testors flat black enamel was a good colour match but I havent tried that.

I was recently watching "Drea Car Garage". They were given an exotic black Audi sports car for a test run. They were told not to scratch it. During the test ride, they frequently pulled over, and attended to the exterior scratches with a Sharpie pen. Maybe it will work on the interior too.

I've got the ebony. Wouldn't have it any other way.
