30+ mpg is a wonderful thing.. I seriously doubt gasoline will ever go back down to somewhast realistic prices. A definate plus for the HHR...

we just traded in our 06 LS

10,000 miles
automatic
XM
premium mats
smokers package
running boards
upgraded pioneer with woofer
hood bra
roof rack
18 inch american racing rims
and was given $11,200.00 from our dodge dealer, luckley it was paid off,but still!!! we expected a lil more for it, we even went to a chevy dealership and it was a matter of 500.00 more in trade in value.

Aftermarket rims, especially oversize, kill the wholesale value. Most wholesale buyers want stock rims and true miles known. If you smoked in the car, expect even less money, too. Miles are good, but Pioneer system, bra, and mats add zero value to wholesale.

Losing 10K after 1 year.........WHAT DA HELL!

Yeah.... I just checked on E-bay & they have the same car as mine with all of the same options and the same miles, selling for 15K. I paid 25K for my car. My car has almost all options except ON-STAR.

I am not mad ....because I like My car & have had only 1 problem out of it & once the GM people found it everything was smooth sailing!
I love the gas mileage & the styling of the car. It is the frist NEW CAR I have ever owned!

I think the only thing that will make our cars hold its value is for the PRICE OF GAS TO GO UP TO $5.00 PER GALLON......WHICH WILL HAPPEN!

When I worked at a gas station, gas cost .67 cents per gallon!

Same with us! I know I owe more than it's trade-in value right now, but we bought it for a "Keeper", not for it's trade in value 2 or 3 years down the road!! Sounds like some people didn't put enough thought into buying an HHR if they're already antsy about getting something bigger Hopefully we'll still have our HHR long after it's paid off. That's the plan anyway!

What's really strange is that I only paid $17k and some change for mine with the GMS discount, and it's still worth $13k and some change wholesale, according to the local Carmax. So I really haven't noticed that much of a drop in mine at all. Maybe the smart money was to get a 1LT instead of the 2LT after all.

BTW, I'm not planning on trading mine, just took advantage of a free situation.
