I haven't spent much time in Knoxville, but you will be very close to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Any one of them (or all of them) would make a great day trip. Lots to do there. Great scenery, mountain views, windy roads, and so on.

Don't live there, but have a timeshare in Gatlinburg. They have a festival of lights during Christmas season which is really neat. Also the Ripley's Aqurium
is great and worth seeing. You actually travel under the tanks on a moving walkway so you see the sharks up close!! You could also check out the
Knoxville civic center downtown to see if they have any events going on.
Knoxville Zoo on Eastside right off of I-40. Hope you enjoy your trip!
