In addition to the great places you've been told about thus far, there are some great places to eat and tour in downtown Knoxville. I can't recall the name of the steet, but it's off of Gay street, is a street that has been blocked off and the entire block on both sides are a number of trendy locals eateries. One we like is http://www.downtownbrewery.com/ The food and building are great.

We typically stop in Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville when we travel to/from Texas to visit our families in the DFW and Austin areas.

All three TN cities are so much fun. Of course, nothing is like going home to Fort Worth and eating at JT Garcia's, Kincaids Grocery or Cattleman's.
