Is anyone worried about the future of GM???
Why having too many dealers close together is a bad thing..
I use to sell cars.. Chrysler & Jeeps..
What happens when you have too many dealers together.. They compete with eachother and not the opposite brand. Here in the Detroit area.. Some one comes in who has employee discount... They can go to 5 different dealers and have 5 different prices.. But wait!!!! They have employee price.. They all pay the same don't they??? Suppose to but doesn't happen that way.. Now just think about the person who doesn't have any discounts.....
That is what really devalues a brand. A would be customer gets so frustrated they end up going to the foreign brand. I seen it all the time selling cars.. Had friends in selling fords and chevy's same problem.
I now work for a high end dealer.. You don't have one on every corner.. Keeps the brand image alot better. That is how Toyota and Honda sell so many.. People realize they either take the deal or they have to drive miles to the next store and hope they have the same car the dealer they are leaving has...
The big three are hurting very bad... But I see Chrysler going under before GM or Ford. Daimler Really ran Chrysler into the ground.....

There are some great deals going on right now with GM and if anyone is thinking about purchasing an HHR, NOW is a good time to do it. And "NO" I don't work for GM or the auto industry.
I love my HHR.

Had an opportunity to meet Lee Iococca, when he was at Ford. Really liked the guy (don't much care for his recent book (Where are all the Leaders...or something to that effect,.... however.....Seems to be terribly egotistical).
If he didn't go back to Chrysler recently, GM should have brought him in. He has the inside track on getting the Government to back you

Not true where I live, the greater Washington DC area. I can hit THREE Toyota dealers and two HONDA dealers in a VERY short distance. And they all play against each other via Internet sales.

thats pretty much what got us out to replace our 06 hhr was the fact i could get the 08 ss model at 0% and by going thru 3 diffrent dealers my new payment is the same as what my old payment was.

I met him before my tenure at GM. He and a car dealer Uncle in PA, were good "buds" and shared a cigar frequently.
But, that is not entirely true about the "hate". I remember a long lead program many years ago at the PG, when Estes talked very highly of him and off the cuff mentioned if they could "acquire" him. I believe this was about the beginning of his tour at Chrysler. Realize I wasn't an envolved party in this conversation, I was there in another capacity. Besides, if some auto publications are true.....turns out the Henry II was a bigger A-hole.
Anyway, my point exactly was what you stated......he knows the right people to get things done.

He really did. He was to LBJ what Kenneth Lay was to W...
Keep in mind I'm also talking about stuff that happened around the time I was born...everything I know is from reading books and listening to relatives at family reunions.

It's not just 'yota. It's all businesses. You should try healthcare. I'm a salaried employee and I can't remember the last week I put in less than 50+ hours. The official policy is "what it takes to get the job done".
With short staffing, you all had better keep a real close eye on your nurse if you end up in the hospital. Mandatory overtime for a national nursing force with an average age over 40 is NOT good for patients.
