2.2 is nothing to scoff at. You 2.4 guys just don't know how to get the most out of your engine. So ya decided to take the easy route and get the 2.4 JK I have 2.2 5-spd. No problems getting her off the line. No problems passing people on the hwy. Up steep hills...piece of cake.

Go for the stick! I have a 2LT with leather, sunroof and 5 speed. I have driven a stick all my life and my HHR is one of the smoothest shifting cars I have ever driven. I took mine on some backroads this past weekend that were hilly and really twisty and had a blast. Be sure to get a swaybar after you buy yours then go have some fun! BTW I am really glad I got the sunroof.

I have a feeling that finding a 5spd with the options I want is going to be tough, but I'll see what I can do. I just wish I could test drive a 5spd before I sign the papers. I can't find any at any local dealerships.

I have the 2.4 auto. Why? LAZY and the remote start. Traffic here in Az is getting like SoCal, not as bad yet but working its way. So no stick since I am lazy. Remote start so I can start the car as I get off work, have the AC cooling the car as I walk out to it.

I don't recommend using "L" ever, as for "I", it would be ideal for your hilly surroundigs. It's really alot of fun. Revs higher and down shifts more crisp

Yeah. One thing for sure, you won't see a 5-spd on the lot. 99% of the time they're all autos. I got lucky with mine even though I had to have it trucked in from an entirely different city. I was going to have to have my ordered otherwise.
