Auto Trannies
Mike at Socal pointed out something to me today in an email and i tried it out when i went to teach this evening.
Stick Positions
L- lets you shift in 1st and 2nd gears and not just 1st like we probably all thought. he also pointed out it gets a harder start off the line and alot more grab on 2nd. Mike is not lying and it will shift closer to 50 instead of 40. use this to really maximize starts off the line
L gear- 1st and 2nd
I- 1st-3rd gears- still good but not as good as L but really nice around town
D- all 4 gears for fuel economy
so the new fun gear is L and talk about downshifting hard, I is good, L is freaking great
thank you Mike for that Tip

No problems though - it shifts...firmly!
I originally discovered all this while trying a downshift into "L" at 40mph. All it produced was a shift into the next lower gear. At 25mph the trans shifts into actual "L."
Further testing proved that no matter what gear you are running in in "I," a downshift to "L" will only drop 1 actual gear. Very helpful on the twisty-turnies.
The biggie of course, is the take-off force and shifting firmness when launching in "L" - it's like an instant "B&M Shift Improver Kit."
Have fun - if you dare! These are pretty tough little trannies!
