Well I replaced the gearshift assembly from the junk yard it has the all leather handle it looks like a newer model, fitted everything but no luck, I noticed that the lever that is in the driver’s side doesn’t even pull back when I press the brake, my door locks still did the same thing open and close by themselves while parked, so I removed the door fuse to see if it made a difference and watch the YouTube video that I attached to this reply that’s what my car does now with the newer gearshift assembly and door fuse unplugged (sigh) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...782d9e75f.jpeg |
Have you checked your brake lights. The brake switch is what is supposed to unlock the shifter.
Next would be the neutral/park switch on the trans, that probably is the door lock thing. And maybe the cable connection there, maybe it is not staying in the "drive" position. |

It is where the cable attaches to the trans.
Those are the only other parts I can think of that could wear out, everything else would have to be cutting wires or rerouting electricity. I am guessing that the BDM gets the signal to lock the doors from that switch, can't think of anywhere else. First, that wire attached to the power steering could cause problems. If it is supposed to be always hot and has an inline fuse a safer place for it would be the other outside terminal.
Secondly, page 5-84 is really mis leading in the way they patched it together. The legend that you have circled actually belongs to the picture on the previous page, the inside fuse box. Position #25 under hood is for the fuse puller. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...c6c10058ca.png |

Ok thanks guys, I checked it by the passenger side and all my fuses are good, I also disconnected the TCM and checked for any corrosion but all was well. I took my car to AutoZone to get any possible codes pulled but they said there where no active or pending codes. My brake lights work and ended up just putting a zip tie to prevent my shifter from ever locking up again. So I guess this weekend ima gonna check the safety switch. |
