I just blasted the mesh over the new driving lights on the drivers side and have hit two with the lower grille and two with my 3 bar...next mod might be a couple 30mm chain guns to drop the suckers before they can hit Sinister in the nose...There was the unfortunate bird that hit my shoulder on my Harley back in the day...messy very messy !!!

Driving the HHR around the Illinois corn fields is nothing short of interesting. The mesh griiles and driving light covers act as bug vegematics...shredding, dicing and leaving wonderful remains everywhere !!! Thank goodness for the clay bar...

Geez!, You poor HHR's!..(And birds too!)..Wheelie has been fortunate to not hit anything as of right now. But I just have to wonder, How in the world you you all manage to hit birds while driving??, Usually, birds fly way high to not get hit by anything, any little sound or movement they sense makes them fly away, so I just don't really get how your poor HHR's give those little birdies a chance to meet their maker sooner?....

The State Bird of Illinois should be a bug of some sort. It has to have the highest population of bugs in the US.

I hit a crow a number of years back on I-91 in Connecticut. Dead center of the windshield in a Pontiac GrandAm. Had to pull over and check my shorts after that one ... The thing bounced so high I lost sight of it. One of the passengers saw it come back down on the other side of the divider and it IMMEDIATELY got run over by an 18 wheeler . I don't think it ever had a chance.

Moral of the story is: Don't play in traffic.

I've only hit 1 bird in 7k miles. Little sparrow chasing a meal dove right into the path of my HHR. Boink off the grill.....went back and looked to see if he made it...pieces of him were not where the should have been(on the inside) I could not have been going more than 25...then again if you have ever held a sparrow you would know how flipping light they are...weigh less than a cotton ball...oh the bug made it...I actually saw him fly away.

I felt like one of those guys who film wildlife shows and you are always yelling at the TV for them to save the little gazelle from the hyena...well that bug lived another day thanks to me...or until the next sparrow ate him in 5 minutes

I sort of renamed "The Gooser" to The "Sparrow Slayer" in honor of Tom's "The Deer Slayer"

Anyone else get bird strikes?

In the last 2 months, I've had 2 small birds strike and bounce off my windshield.

I'm thinking if it happens to others, its an aerodynamics issue
