I just took a look at Guam on Google Earth. I see what you mean, the southern end is pretty traditional compared to the rest. The island has been built up a lot, it was mostly like the south end in 1974.

Conax I would get the 2.2 and have rhea dent fixed. We have 2 . We have had them 7years and on the road I have got right at 33mpg on a trip. They are good vehicles.

Thanks for the response Ron. I am not all that concerned (usually) about cosmetic stuff on used cars anyway if they are sound mechanically. On the HHRs, though, the smooth body panels are a bummer when they're crinkled. The owner was saying he would do something with it, I'll get to go see it tomorrow. With my budget I can't be too picky

Overall the 2.2L and 2.4L are the same parts; the only real difference is the bore and stroke. The 2006-2008 2.2L is not VVT all 2.4L are VVT. Parts should be no problem for either, it is close to the most popular engine in the world.

I just found out the L61 (2007-2008 non VVT 2.2L) engine is designed by Aston Martin.

Good to know, Donbrew. Now I would rather have the 2.2 without VVT but the one I have a line on is an 09 so it is flexfuel/VVT.
I guess it won't matter as regards to reliability. All those 2.4 owners seem pretty happy.

I'm a two 2.2 owner as well... Well I was until another driver did not want to wait 3 seconds for me to go by enabling him to do his left turn safely. Yes I'm still salty about it!!

Go for the little rust couple of dents panel. Provided of course they get repaired to your satisfaction before or after sale.

Hi Fox Hat- That guy should have been more careful, everybody's on cell phones texting nowadays I guess.
Anyway, I wrote the original post poorly and got people thinking I'm after one of the panels.
They were nice but expensive and a couple hundred miles away, so I'm looking now at a slightly dinked 09 LS with the windows. I'm finally going to see it tomorrow, so I'll know more tomorrow night.
I hope.
Thanks for the input!

Ok gang, I went up to check out the car and the man (Juergen Baumann, lar5614@yahoo.com) fixed that crink and the bumper so well that I can't see any evidence it was ever dinged at all. The car ran like a brand new one in Friday evening crazy traffic on I-70 for 40 miles, happily outpacing everyone in the left lane and the temp needle stayed put nice and low.
After a short test drive I told him the A/C wasn't really that cold, he whipped out his gauges and serviced it on the spot. BRRRRRR!!

I put his name and email in case any Central Ohio guysneed an HHR or a Cobalt or some repairs, especially of the body work. This man is GOOD.
I bought it, it's out in the driveway, I checked under for drippage and there's not a speck.
I'll be on the forum sometimes for advice, my cruise control and key fob are inop but of no concern to me right now. I'm tired.
But very happy with my new car. The silver dual thin pinstripe he applied really sets it off. I'm impressed with Mr Baumann's skill.
Thank you all for the advice. I'm dent and rust free.
woohoo!

Enjoy the car and don't be a stranger that only shows up when there's a problem.

Oh! and we like pics...

you're right, I like pics too. It's just a stock gray one, but I'll get some up somewhere and link to them for the curious. I'll put a before and after the ding got fixed.
