Nice... I'd know what that smells like. I still have yet to find out what this is.

By the way, my 22,500 service has turned into a cluster-f*ck!

I've got that rubber smell too. Started around 45k. Smells just like a tire and its coming from the drivers side just behind the front tire....but its not the tire. I'm gonna take a good in depth look this week and I'll post back if I find anything.

I crawled under the Red Sled and detailed it... and found nothing. The smell is faint after a longer drive... but I cannot find anything correlating.

The dealership flat out said they didn't smell it. Perhaps its jut a smell the HHR makes in its day to day driving... but I have a feeling that something, somewhere is melting/deteriorating.

When better weather is back here in Seattle I'll give it another look. I figure at least I have it on record at the dealership that I do smell something so if it turns out to be something I may have recourse.

Did you ever get an idea what is making the smell on your HHR? My SS has just recently started making this smell from the front end (doesn't seem like engine) and it's seeming to be worse on shorter runs than on longer ones.

I smelled it this morning and made an appt at the dealer. Of course I did not smell it on the ride home and I'm afraid that will be their prognosis as well.

I'm thinking in my case it was the tires. After replacing the stock Firehawks I don't smell it anymore? What tires are you running?

I am also running the factory rubber.

I'll try to reproduce the smell and get it to the dealer to look at it. I can't take time off to have it dropped off and not make the smell so I'm told they couldn't find anything.

My service dept is pretty cool.

Thanks for the update!
