Would offer no more than $14500 plus TTL. These cars have NO resale value after two years. They are worse then KIAs LOL. My car retail MSRP over $24K only 11k miles ago and 14 months. Trade in was $11800. Even if the original buyer got a $2500 rebate he still gave away nearly 10 grand in a little over a year.

Hang tough. You will find a dealer who will sell the car at a $2k profit.

The orange one they had listed for 18K said they had $16900 in it and know that they paid too much, but offered to dollar for my old car.
Will have to stink about this for a few days, since I know it's not going anywhere.

NO WAY they have $16900 in it . They don't have $14k in it. I don't think a dealer has that much in a NEW one LOL

Why would they buy a 2 year old HHR for $16,900 when most buyers would not pay that for one? Forget about the trade. Don't even bring in the trade until you have a price on the car you are looking at.

Leave it there. It will be there awhile unless they find a total fool. Tell them to call you when they are serious about selling the car.

Thanks for the links, I guess the Charleston area is not a good place to buy a HHR.
I might have to try Columbia or MB

You will get a better deal if you DON'T buy at a Chevy dealership. You won't pay extra for the "Certified" sticker. Most cars are less expensive when on competitors lots. I bought mine at a Dodge Dealer. I am sure they did not want that beautiful Black HHR parked next to their used PT Cruisers very long. People may decide to venture to the Chevy dealer.

Any place is a good place to buy a car that is not overly popular and appeals to a smaller demographic. Ebay is a good indicator of market value. Watch SELLING process not asking prices. If a car does not sell it was priced too high. Period.

Just got back from looking in about 10 lots no HHR's, only saw 1 and it was a slow silver one without a sunroof and was a stick.
There are only 2 areas left I can look, then its a road trip.

Autotrader.com should give you a bunch to look at. Many in the $14K price range. This is what I found 100 miles around Myrtle BEach.
