Calling all members
Hey there folks, I am thinking I am going to replace my stock 17 inch firestones. The tire I am leaning towards is the Bridgestone Potenza g009's. My local guy can do them for 638 and change installed.
I know that lots of people here have replaced them with winter tires. What I am asking is if anyone has replaced their factory 17's what did you get and how are they in wet and snowy conditions?
I am really disappointed in the firestones on the HHR only 20000 miles on em and the amount of traction they provide has been steadily decreasing since around 15000.

Dunlop Signatures
The first set of Dunlops I have owned. They are awesome but if I accelerate a little to hard in the wet they have a hard time hooking up. The ride is excellent. I highly recommend them.

I just ordered the Pilots (I had them before on another vehicle and they were EXCELLENT in ALL seasons.)
If you live in a climate that is mostly DRY, then the Yokohamas will work well, if you have snow and rain, then do the Pilots.

After looking at your suggestions, talking to my "tire guy" and reading reveiws from tire rack's web site I have settled on the Michelins. They have been ordered and are expected in on Monday.
While they are quite pricey ($723.60 mounted & balanced) but they look to be a far superior tire so I have my fingers crossed and await trying them out!
Only bad thing is there goes my sway bar money.

My firestones are out of round first thing in the morning on really cold days. They smooth out after a mile or so, not bad in the winter the I know of, but then again I love having the e-brake between the sit.
I'll stick with then and just get summer wheels and tires.

My 06 came with the Yoki's....VERY quiet, tread water quite well, and from what I can tell(using the DOT#) they were made in the 32 week of 07. Not sure when the previous owner put them on(mileage) but they look brand new.
I sold tires for 10+ years for Firestone/Bridgestone...let me put it this way...*most* Firestone OE tires are designed for one thing...initial test drive performance, and to hold air.
On another note, I run Kumho ecsta 711's on my other car...they were very inexpensive from the tire rack, and have lasted over 40k miles...for a performance tire, I am pretty impressed...and for the price I paid, I am VERY Impressed.
I dont drive in snow, so I cannot comment first hand on my Yoki's self-cleaning ability, or their ability to handle the FWD dynamics of the HHR.

The tires are only warranty for 40K, I'm sure. I had to replace mine after 18 mos and I had 57,572 miles on them, I went to www.discounttire.com and found a set of Continental tires with 80,000 mile warranty for just under $500.00 mounted & balanced with that extra road insurance

My good friend knows I need new tires, and he gave me the web site and I found a set of 4 tires that are by Continental P215/50R17 90H BSW with 80,000 miles warranty 600 AA (5) Star rated for $116.00 ea. the Grand total would be $464.00 out the door and the best thing is if I purchase 4 tires before the 27th of this month I get $100.00 off with a purchase of 4 tires, I would then get this special coupon.
I will also get free Valve Stem, Free road Hazard, Free life time rotation, and much more. Now Sicne I have never purchased any tires for my HHr do you all think this would be a Great Deal.
