Cancer!(Rust)

102,000 miles on my '09, got cancer on left rear door and lower fender! No sign of any rust on inside. This is full blown cancer. I am p#¥#+d off! now nobody will want tha car.

Hate to say it, but you're in the heart of the "rust belt", and if memory serves me right...y'all had an awful winter up there.

It sounds like you're a victim of "Pennsylvania Fender Solvent" AKA road salt. There is a corrosion warranty on the HHR from the factory, so you might want to talk to your dealer about a "goodwill" repair, even though you're barely past 100k on the clock.

I edited your title to include (rust), because it gave me heart failure thinking that you were ill.

Yea, I shoulda said rust along with it. The thing that bummed me was that it was high up on the door and being retired I only drive when I need to.

Bummer. All my lower doors are rusting. It started 4 months after I got the car, new. My first hhr didn't. It's obvious from looking that the assembly was different at the seams. GM's "goodwill" fix made the rust come back a month later and with a vengeance. I'd be very wary of any fix from a dealer.

The GM warranty is against rust through, unfortunately not spots just holes.
