Car broken into last night - Electrical problems now
Well while I was at work last night, some jackass broke into my car (Somehow) and ripped out my new radio, and grabbed a laptop and my ZuneHD player. You could see in the security cameras where my alarm started going off, (Lights flashing on/off) and did so for about 10 minutes (Nobody even came in and said anything, saw about 5 people walk right by it to their cars). But there's not a scratch on my car, and I know I locked my doors before I went into work. My key cylinder seems damaged though, as I can barely unlock/lock my car with a key now, so I'm assuming they used a screwdriver to unlock the door??? I don't know.
Anyway, the biggest problem I have now is my electronics are all messed up. I have headlights and brake lights, but no running lights. I've checked all the fuses, and they all have continuity. My traction control kept turning on and off on the way home last night, plus I got pulled over 3 times because of no running lights. (65 mile trip home) My interior lights/dash lights also don't work when I have the headlights on, but it's definitely the headlights coming on and not the DRL's b/c I can turn my brights on/off.
Insurance will pay for damages anything past my deductible, however I just don't have the $$$ right now to cover the deductible (Tax time for me = $$$ to uncle Sam). Can any of you guys point me in the right direction as far as what to look for as to what might be causing these issues? I need to get my HHR back on the road, a couple of days driving my truck is going to start adding up on the Gas front...

Bummer....They used a piece of metal called a Slim Jim. You stick it inside the door, between the door skin and the glass, grab the lock rod and yank up. This unlocks it. Your lock rod is probably bent from the theft.
I think that when the anti-theft was activated all of those things would happen, thus the police activity (a good thing to know). I'll bet the only option is having GM work the car over. If you get a repair estimate you should be entitled to pick and choose, "how about don't replace the radio, just make the car run" or let the shop do everything except the doorlock rod, that should be pretty expensive (I would guess $200 insurance billing), but only a medium pain to do yourself, just be sure to point it out to the adjuster. Also check if you have homeowner/renter insurance may cover theft of the Zune.
I feel for ya..Saturday morn I had the same thing..sucks..but anyway..the harness connected to the stereo head unit is tied to lots other stuff..maybe even shorted out or lost a ground somewhere along the lines due to Hillbilly syle of removal techniques im sure..Id take it to a good stereo shop and have a guy go over it for ya..electrical problems are the worst...
