Change the horn
Change the horn
Where is the horn located? It sounds like it is somewhere on the drivers side. I haven't had a chance to really check yet, but I want to add airhorns (need them in NYC).
If anyone finds the horn location, I'd sure like to hear about it.
I have a 2LT on order right now and also have an old horn that I refurbished yesterday for it.
Funny story.... In '68 I ordered a Pontiac Firebird (HOT > Ram Air III 400!). When working up the order sheet with the dealer we overlooked the "dual horn" option. Man, was that horn weak! My neighbor's wife had a '58 Mercedes and when we would pass and toot he started ribbing me about the hot car with the not so hot horn. One day I stopped by a junk yard and asked if they had a '58 Mercedes horn. $1.00 later I now had a LOUD horn. It became a tradition with me and has been in many cars over the years. I still love the unique and loud sound. It's next home will be the new HHR!!

I have PIAA horn replacements comming. I was also briefly just looking for the horn yesterday. It "sounds" like it is in the driver side front fender well by the head light. Need to get into this, but I assume it will be accessible from inside the wheel well like how you would change the head lamp.
Whoever does this first please post some details.

The horn is to the lower right of the driver side headlamp. It looks like it is attached to a bracket on the outside of the frame. I havent looked on an actual vehicle, just pulled up the component locator in GM Service Information, and the picture is kinda of lame.
Any how to get to the wire harness? I understand that there is already a relay in the car, so hooking up new airhorns should just be a matter of connecting the existing wire to the compressor and grounding it. (Or, to be fancy, adding a selector switch).
