It is odd that a brand new computer would have Win 7. It's still supported, security updates, for another 2 years. But mainstream support ended about 3 years ago, no service packs.

Have you done all the updates and service packs available?

Yes ... I am always ahead of the Pak on my Windows updates. I manually install them on the day they are released.
Also Use C Cleaner which was recommended by Dell.
Also have Trend Max Security which is updated regularly.
I like and understand Windows 7 and do not want to make a change unless it is absolutely necessary which will probably relate to Security issues.

Those same thoughts mimic my feelings about my HHR's.

A Heads up for some on this Forum....

When you reach your 80's your mind gets tired of Changing every time the Marketers decide to sell you something New.....
I do however consider myself a young 81.

I used to buy a New Vehicle, or 2, or 3 every year, but now I just buy a different HHR with lower mileage. I like it just the way it is ..

I hear ya, SF, I've got the new laptop with Win10, rarely use it. Mostly because it doesn't have Office.

Google search - site:www.chevyhhr.net
This is what I bookmarked when the search function here wasn't cooperating. After the .net, I type in my search terms.

They did stop selling 7 recently.

I never noticed a difference between 7 and 10 after I learned to ignore those stupid tiles, except that it ran faster on my old equipment. I gave 8 and 8.1 a quick look and hated them.

The Creator updates did away with the remnants of 8.1.

Most businesses and hospitals are still using XP Pro.

I have absolutely no use for built in security or add on security, everything is turned off. I can't remember passwords so I don't delete cookies. CCleaner is good, but I have found that sometimes it screws things up too easily.

Since I have been confined to a wheelchair I spend 98% of my awake time in front of one computer or another diddling around.

All of my computers (6) are so old they came with XP, one came with Vista. My 2 newest machines were found in the trash.

On the Business side they still offer some models of the Inspiron and the OptiPlex with Windows 7 Pro.

They mentioned earlier that when this Run of each model is sold out it will be the end of 7 offerings. This Christmas season will probably do it with a few exceptions.

I too have some issues with C Cleaner as they keep updating it so often and that changes what it does. Sometimes it deletes many of my passwords and then later it doesn't.

I have a new PC with Windows 10. There are some navigation of it which is new to me (had Vista Home Premium) but easy to learn/understand. Otherwise it works just like Vista. Not hard at all.

Silverfox, I think this link will explain how to fix it. I suspect that Java is not updated or blocked, maybe ActiveX also.

The article I saw said that M$ was blocking all new licenses for 7.
