Changing KPH back to MPH, Help!

Hello you guys, could someone tell me how to reverse my mistake of having KPH on my speed gauge instead of MPH? I was resetting the "Oil Life"after an oil change, since the auto shop couldn't do it and I was doing the (:happy dance:) because I learned to do it myself and somehow pushed all the wrong buttons (:stuff hitting fan:). Now I'm not sure how fast I'm driving. So please help me, because I've just received a $250 speeding ticket () due to the fact that my gauge is all screwed up ()I saw all the quotes and replies on MPH to KPH, but I'm seriously looking for a reversal (:pulling hair:)!!!!!!

That doesn't make any sense: if you switched it to KMH and it then read 60, you were only doing 40 MPH (approx.).

Welcome to the site.

All that info is in your owners manual. If you don't have one, you can download one from this site. FREE.

A short clip from the manual:
UNITS
This feature allows you to select the units of
measurement in which the DIC will display the vehicle
information. When UNITS appears on the display, press
and hold the reset button for at least one second to
scroll through the available settings:
ENGLISH (default in United States): All information
will be displayed in English units.
METRIC (default in Canada): All information will be
displayed in metric units.
To select a setting and move on to the next feature,
press the information button while the desired setting is
displayed on the DIC.

to the forum!

I moved your post and its replies out into their own thread, less likely to get overlooked that way.

If the auto shop couldn't reset the oil life maybe you need to try a different auto shop. What I find interesting is that the oil life reset and the units are in two completely separate modes and require different methods to get to them. Since you have to press and hold both the information and the reset buttons, or, at least, press and hold the reset button if you are already in the iformation mode to get into the personalization mode (where the unit adjustment is) it just seems like it would be tough to get to it accidentally.......

oil life reset is done with the key on but engine not running and the Klm or Mile setting is done with the HHR running, at least when I change to miles when I cross the border

Either way, it would be difficult to do accidentally........if this is such a pressing issue why did the OP leave three minutes after posting without waiting for an answer? Hasn't returned yet.......

The book says engine not running, but it works when it's running. Both are in the personaliZation (for Canadians) menu on my 2008 and 2011.

Key just needs to be on...engine doesn't have to be running but it will work either way. That really wasn't my point, however..........
