Unlike the challenge I had, you're probably trying to remove the whole assembly.

Still, I would love to know how you make out; tried to get it off my 2011 due to the ugly foil delamination issue that GM should be deeply ashamed of.

No luck so I just carefully masked it and painted it with Krylon Satin Black, which is what I wanted, anyway. Beautiful.

Last week I found it lying on the pavement, with ALL of the foil left behind on the car. That's how it will look until warm weather comes.

Already had done Krylon Satin Black both front and rear on my 2008, rear pried off, front masked off again as last resort, both holding up fine. BTW, pretty sure I put the rear one back on with "Shoe Goo" 'cuz that's what I had handy.

Fishing line is brilliant, BTW; will file that.

Fishing line is excellent for removing most any badges. That how I de-badged mine.

Another option for a fresh look on the bow ties is self adhesive vinyl. Pick your color. Clean your emblem, stretch vinyl over it, using heat gun carefully or hair dryer if needed. Then trim neatly using razor knife.

My emblem fell off years ago. Gm should be ashamed of that!

They probably are, the supplier cheaped out on the adhesive.

I glued mine back on with Gorilla Glue. It's held up for 3 years or so. Harsh winters, car washes, etc. Just be sure not to use too much or it oozes all over the place and dries in a nasty yellow color. I had to trim it off with an Xacto knife.

If you can get behind where it's taped, try the fishing line. Saw back and forth with it.. Once you get behind it try "goo be gone" to help release the glue. Hope this helps.

Gorilla glue swells up to like 3x the amount you use, so use sparingly...
