Clay Bar: Mothers or Meguiers?

Pretty simple? What brand do you use and why. Going to pick one up and didn't know if one was superior to the other or what.

I've used both and others. Any of them should be fine. However, Real Clay Bar is far superior to Liquid Clay Bar.

I've used both, to be honest, never saw a differance.

Only used Meguiars clay (real clay) bar, but I prefer Mother's wax. When I did use it, it was excellent. Can't imagine you'd have a problem with either.

I've used both. Half a dozen of one, 6 of another.

Neither, I prefer Zaino. Bigger, and comes with an airtight storage jar.

I don't know if this has changed recently but not long ago the clay used in these bars all came from one place in Japan. All the clays on the market are not really that much different than any of the others.

I am not sure if anyone has ever come up with a replacement for this clay compound. Most bars all work the same and really does not matter what one you use. I have tried most and they all work the same.

Two tricks to know. Always tear the bar in half and only use a part of what you have. Spray the rest with detailer and seal in a zip lock bag. That way if you drop it you still have more left. It takes little to do a car.

Also we have found that if you wash your car you can use water on a clean car as a lubricant to clay the car. It does a great job of leaving a liquid surface to let the clay gluide across the car.

I have used 5 different ones we sell at work and none are any better or worse than the other. I also have been in tech meeting with most of them and they also say there is little differance in their products off the record. I guess pick the one priced best of the color you like.

As a fellow black HHR owner, I know your challenges -- I ONLY use Meguair's on my baby. See my brazillions of pix to see how shiny he always is.
