Cold air intake??

Is this worth the 300.00 they want for it. I know they work wounders on v-8's do they increase air flow that much on these motors? Is it worth it just to get a KN filter or is the whole kit that much better

I put one on my F-150 with a 4.6L It made no difference at all in fuel mileage and I couldn't detect any increase in hp. Based on that experience I won't be getting one for the HHR.

I ran a CGS intake on my HHR until recently when I decided to sell it, and I can tell you that it makes a difference. I went without it for about 3 weeks until I purchased an AIRAID intake (208.00) which I like better. You won't see dramatic gains, but there is a noticable HP increase and if you can keep your foot out of it there are a couple of MPGs in it also. To each his/her own and good luck with your HHR ventures...

I have the K&N 63 series air intake system and i am very happy with it.
You get the extra power at about 3K rpm and up.
Hard to tell if has helped the mileage, but the mileage is great any way.

I like the AIRAID better becuase the power is smoother throughout the entire power band. Personally I believe the short, straight ram of the AIRAID is better than the two 90 degree bends in the long CGS.
