Then it will not work as a swap. You will need an early 2007 engine as the later ones were VVT - and not compatible.

These things? The black and grey solenoids, then it's a 2.4 or an 09 2.2

The coils should be separate

Not a coil pack like this

This one is a VVT

So an update again. (private life got in the way of working on vehicle.)

I am looking around for an engine again and found some in Phoenix. I am far north Arizona and last time I went down to Phoenix the motor was in the car still and it was the wrong one! (tsk!) Judging by my engine I am looking for one that's not equipped with the ACV, correct me if I'm wrong. I really need to get his car up and running soon. And if you could can you tell me what other engines from other vehicles are a direct replacement for mine? I tried looking at that list you provided but a little idea on how to read it.

And if it helps - VIN # of my HHR: 3GNDA23DX7S585396.

Thanks!

The easiest thing is to call your local junk yard, they have computerized application data. Some can get one if they don't have one in stock.

You are looking for a L61 2.2L non-VVT, 2007-2008 HHR. Maybe 2007-2008 Cobalt, Saturn Ion, some of those had a power steering pump gear on the cam.

That's what I did the first time I went to Phoenix and I drove there cash in hand only to come back with an empty truck bed. Wasted my time. I may go there again today. To a different salvage yard though.
