I'd like to split the rear hatch like an old station wagon.
Flip up glass and the lower half folds down.
Your split doors is a very doable project. Another set of rear doors from another car would be useful for modified parts youd need to finish them up.
Parts from an Astro's rear Dutch Door setup might be useful as donor parts.
