Well. After trying to tackle this task I have bad and good news. Bad part is, I ruined two brand new sawzall blades, just to damage a thread a little. But on the bright side,GM used some seriously hard a.. steel for these axels. Maybe I should try different blades. And idea of using any kind of hand tools sounds laughable to me now.

LOL yeah its hardened steel so you are going to need a really good BiMetal blade ( not exactly cheap ) and some cutting fluid. Diablo makes some good metal blades. Now the real secret is ….. SLOW !!!!!!!!
You may be better off with a hacksaw or like others say ( the band saw ) but reduce that blade speed ! Slow is the keyword here since cuttung hardened steel will only get harder if it gets hot weakening your blades, so go slow and use plenty of cutting fluid ( Pig Spit, Kroil... to name a few good fluids ) But if you are in a hurry, a heavy duty grinder will take it down Just keep a hose near and keep that axle cool as you don't want to melt any seals or fry your bearings...lol

I have to take my words about hand tool back now. Tried hacksaw with some oil. Worked perfectly. 15 min for each side. Wont have to look at those axels any more. Thank you everyone for suggestions.
Anyone remember Jack "hacksaw" Reynolds who played for the LA Rams football team in the 70's.
When he was in college, his previously undefeated team (Tennessee I think) got blown out in a road game, so when he got back home he cut a car in half with a hacksaw "to release his pent-up anger".
