Dash mounted rear view mirror?

Has anyone tried this with their HHR? I thinking about getting rid of the windshield mounted rear view mirror, cause it takes up to much room and causes a blind spot, and putting an old school dash mounted one. I'd probably take the glove box out and mount it inside that space. Thoughts?

It could be done , you could mount it to the left of the cubby and still have that storage for sunglasses and things

True, I was thinking the base of the mirror wouldn't take up the whole space, so I still would be able to put stuff in that area.

You could do it. With the mirror that low, visibility will be reduced.

I believe ebay sells a universal chrome dash mounted mirror. You may end up with more vibration in the mirror being on the dash. The mirror is pretty solid where its at. But totally agree with you it would give you some more visibility out the windshield.

My 2 cents is I think will block the view through the windshield more then the windshield mount ! If you have a GPS place it in the area you are thinking of for the mirror to give you a better idea

It may depend on your height and if you have power seats or not. I am 6'2 and ,on my LS I had , I installed a power seat because it would go down lower than non power one. So for me I would rather have the windshield view open towards the top

You make a lot of sense ! He is about 6ft 3 like me ! I know when I drive my HHR I have to lower my head a bit to see the stop light or just stay farther back ! But for me the windshield mount is no issue ! But a dash mount might be better :) Going to have to mount my GPS on the dash to see lol
