Engine applications for transmission options

Guys,
Finally wore out my Ecotec on my '07 HHR. Rings in #2 are shot but at 338,000 miles ,so what. Anyway ,I'm looking for a replacement engine and I was wondering about applications . My HHR has the Getrag 5 speed instead of the usual AT. Did GM use the same block for both or has my search become more difficult.
I intend to rebuild the original block but because it's the primary work bus, I need it running yesterday. This way I can take my time on the original block.

Thanks
