First off I want to say how great this site is. I've been a member of other car sites and this is by far the best.

Now for my question. Has anybody bought a key blank from GM ? If so how much was it? I got my 2007 HHR from a used car lot with only one key. I asked for another key (don't like having just one) and they said big money. They will sell me one at their cost. I have seen them on E-bay for like $12.00.
Are they any good? I can cut the blank and programing it's not hard so why the big cost?

 

i got 2 extras for 64.00 when I got my HHR back in 2005.

Go to Ebay and pick one up cheep. They work great!

 

You will just have to program the new key once it is cut. It is simple. Now getting a second remote is more involved and would probably involve a trip to the dealer.
